- Abstract
A limited number of experimental investigations were made to check the efficiency of the specified recovery criterion (Subsection 4.5.2 of National Building Code of Canada, 1965) for Indicating the adequacy of a structure under load test for acceptance. Load tests were performed on nine concrete beams reinforced for tension only. Effects of steel ratio, concrete strength and retesting on recovery were observed. Test results are presented in tabular and graphical forms, A tentative evaluation of the load test requirements for reinforced concrete structures is made.A new device for measuring curvature, suitable for laboratory use, is discussed in detail.A computer programme is presented for applying the test results to a variety of conditions of beam support.
