Abstract
  • This thesis deals with the development of a computer program for the solution of plate problems using the finite element technique. Rectangular and quadrilateral elernents have been used. The displacement functions are the same as that of Zienkiewicz and Clough. The displacement function for lateral bending is not invariant with respect to choice of axes and imposes difficulty for a quadrilateral element. The first Chapter deals with the introduction. The method of analysis has been described in the second Chapter. In the third Chapter the results have been presented and discussed. In the fourth Chapter conclusions and recommendations have been made. A Fortran listing of the computer program is given in the appendix.
