- Abstract
Physical arguments have been presented regarding the shape of the peaks in gamma ray spectra produced by a germanium detector. From these arguments a function was derived to represent these peak shapes. This function has been used to fit several gamma ray peaks at various energies and the resulting values obtained for the functions parameters were studied. From the fits obtained for the gamma ray peaks of the O16 spectrum an energy separation of two of the gamma rays of O16 has been calculated.
