Abstract
  • The worldwide health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has been impacting people's life for over one year now. While waiting for an effective treatment, there have been various Contact Tracing Systems (CTS) developed and adopted across the globe to help stop the spread of the virus. While people are concerned about their exposure to the virus, they also worry about the breach of privacy inherent to using CTSs due to their collection of private information. AS of June 2020, we have designed and implemented a fully automated, secure, efficient and privacy-preserving Bluetooth-based COVID-19 Notification System (CNS) following the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) contact tracing system development guidelines. The design addresses both security and privacy threats during the virus exposure detection and notification processes.
