An immigrant-journalist's view of Canada

- Abstract
This work presents an image of Canada by an immigrant-journalist. My impressions, along with research done for this paper, reveal significant differences between some of the widely accepted images of Canadian society and those subjective views which have emerged from my experience, both journalistic and personal, in Canada.The most salient features of the 26-year period covered in this thesis have been the emergence of culture in Canada, and an increasing propensity, on the part of many Canadians, to question both the performance of government and the capitalistic system of private enterprise. Above all, the current economic crisis points to the need for a long-overdue democratic, people-oriented reform of government and business in Canada.
