Abstract
  • Experiments have been carried out in air on a two-inch diameter porous cylinder to determine the effect of air injection on heat transfer from a cylinder in crossflow. The Reynolds number based on cylinder diameter and free stream conditions was varied from 31,200 to 119,000 for the dimensionless injection parameter, f , = (p V /Poo Uoo )//Re(q>range of approximately 0.5 to 2.5; the flow being incompressible (U = 121 Ft/Sec). The to ^ °°,max heat transfer results at the forward stagnation point are in good agreement with the two-dimensional stagnation flow theory. Local heat transfer parameter Nu,f/ /^Re,ris presented as a function of angular location. The results agree well with the data of other investigators. A slight effect of Reynolds number on the heat transfer parameter is observed.
