Phase transitions and a flux tube model of deconfinement

- Abstract
This paper deals with the possibility of a phase transition in QCD. Our goal is to identify the nature of a deconfinement transition described by a simple flux tube model. The majority of the paper deals with material needed in preparation for this analysis. We find that the model does not describe a phase transition.
