Abstract
  • In a digital world obsessed with the image, how can we convey the importance of the trades to future generations? This project will explore the concept of architecture as a mirror for the trades; a space of observation and reflection for the trades themselves and for the public. Through the design of a small centre for training woodworkers on Amelia island, this thesis will use the site and its history, the building program and the materials and methods of construction to frame literal and phenomenological observation and reflection of the wood trades.
